Breaking the American Political "Duopoly"

Local government does good

Kudos to Frederick, Maryland for making it easier for third-party candidates to run for city office. The Frederick Board of Alderman (city council) amended the city charter to reduce the "red tape" for independent parties. Democracy and elections are only as good as the choices offered voters. As our two parties, the Democrats and the Republicans, become increasingly entrenched and increasingly the same nationally, it is good to see local government recognizing the problem and doing something about it.
