You Should Not Be Where You Do Not Belong
Sunk costs vs incremental costs
It is becoming increasingly clear that the Iraqis dont want us (the US Military) there anymore, nor us (the US President) telling them how to run their country. This was made clear in Iraq Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki's recent trip to the US and recent news conferences.
Yes we went there for whatever reasons and we did whatever we did and politicians quibble about this and that but that was then this is now. Lets take the not-so polite invitation to leave and leave. (I dont mean to be glib- people are dying and its certainly not the lives of the sons and daughters who sent us there in the first place - but it is the lives of the very people we are supposed to be helping who now dont want us there.)
In the immortal words of Bob Dylan, "you should not be where you do not belong."
